What is Open Pace?
Open Pace is a powerful, OPEN SOURCE, integrated Planning Solution utilizing Oracle Essbase, Java, and .NET technology.Typical Open Pace applications include: Retail Planning, Merchandise Planning, Product Profitability, Labor Planning, and Store Operations.
The beauty of Open Pace is that it uses Microsoft Excel as it's front-end, a tool that most users are familiar with. Therefore, Open Pace requires very minimal user-training. A simple Open Pace application can be developed in a just a few weeks. (NO CODING REQUIRED).
Open Pace is comprised of the following components:
- Open Pace Server - A Java application
server, running on JBoss, that handles calculations,
data persistence, user security and Essbase integration. Calculations are executed via the
Open Pace rules engine. These rules can be tailored to the specific needs of your planning application. - Open Pace Client - A .Net Microsoft Excel add-in that manages each user's planning session. Also includes "tester"
- Open Pace Administration Console - An Eclipse RCP application used to configure and administer Open Pace.
- Oracle Essbase - Serves as the back-end for Open Pace; Used to persist user planning data. (Essbase must be purchased separately)
- Derby - An OPEN SOURCE relational database that holds Open Pace meta-data. (Derby is bundled with Open Pace)

and source code files) are licensed under the terms of the GNU
General Public License version 3.
Pace Planning 2.8.8.6 is
still under protection of a commercial license and is available on
this site for the convenience of previous Pace Planning
clients.
